The Garden of Words

Aspiring shoe-maker Takao skips school to sketch and design his future creations in a quiet garden, where he encounters an older woman, Yukari. Meeting each time it rains, as if by fate, the pair grow closer. Yukari's secrets keep her emotionally distant though, and as the rainy season ends, they part ways - until she begins teaching at Takao's school.

A deeply engaging work inspired by poetry and touching on the basic human need to connect, The Garden of Words is an incomparably beautiful piece of film making, both visually and emotionally. Directed by Makoto Shinkai, now firmly established as one of the finest animators of his generation, Anime Limited will be bringing the stunning film to Blu-ray early next year.
