A Lull in the Sea

In A Lull In The Sea mankind has split into two groups – those who dwell on land and those who spend most of their time beneath the ocean. Four teens from the subaquatic village called Shioshishio are forced to join a class on the surface for the first time after the school in their watery hamlet had to shut. Even as they struggle to adjust to their new classmates on dry land, the quartet – Hikari, Manaka, Kaname and Chisaki – have to deal with their convoluted love lives as feelings kept hidden insist on rising to the surface. And if that wasn’t enough, relationships between surface dwellers and people of the sea are forbidden on pain of banishment.

A Lull In The Sea reunites director Toshiya Shinohara with writer Mari Okada, who worked together on the more gothic and less water-logged Black Butler. Expect heart-rending pathos from MVM Entertainment as the teens navigate the swirling waves of love.
