Naruto: Road to Ninja

Distributor: Manga
Date: Now

The latest of Naruto’s feature-length adventures sees the gutsy ninja being transported, along with Sakura, into a parallel version of their world where everything is dramatically different. In this world, it was Sakura’s father who became the Fourth Hokage, and while Naruto’s parents are still alive, they have their own son, Menma. Unfortunately, Menma isn’t as fun-loving and boisterous as his counterpart, and prefers commanding a gang of dark chakra beasts to slurping down ramen.

Both Naruto and Sakura find that this new world is even better than their home in a lot of aspects, if strange and confusing in a whole lot more – but will this alternate universe win them over? And if not, will they even manage to find a way for them to make it back to their reality? Whatever happens, you can be sure that there’ll be more than a few epic ninjutsu battles and a small fortune’s worth of kunai flung before everything is resolved.

Road to Ninja is the ninth Naruto movie overall, and the last that will take place before the ever-approaching climactic series finale. It’s also the first of the movies to have a story conceived and written by manga creator Masashi Kishimoto, who also designed the new characters for the story as well. That might explain why it became the highest-grossing Naruto movie in Japan, before being ultimately surpassed by 2014’s The Last: Naruto the Movie. UK audiences will be able to check out this topsy-turvy world of Road to Ninja for themselves from 26 October.
