Gundam-a-go-go!

2016 is going to be a big year for the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, as Japan’s mecha champion explodes onto the UK. Anime Limited will bring no less than four different series to our shores over the year, each exploring different eras in Bandai’s enduringly popular franchise.

Continuing the ‘Universal Century’ timeline established in the original Mobile Suit Gundam – out now on Blu-ray – direct sequel Zeta Gundam will be following on the high-def format. The beautifully restored 1985 classic will arrive with original Japanese audio. Its own successor, 1986’s Gundam ZZ, will arrive afterwards, currently slated for DVD-only. The ambitious Turn A Gundam – the franchise’s 20th anniversary series, set in a new ‘Correct Century’ timeline that loosely blends all Gundam continuities – will also arrive on DVD later in the year. For something a bit more recent though, 2014’s Gundam Reconguista in G will land early 2016, on Blu-ray only.

While release dates are still TBC, 2016 will be a very good year for Gundam fans of all stripes!
