Selector Infected WIXOSS

As we all know, there is no higher priority for young people today than that of success in the field of collectible card games. However, the hottest new card game around, WIXOSS (short for Wish Across – sort of) has something of a dark side… When Ruko Kominato receives a deck from her brother, she’s ready for a few spirited games to make some friends at her new school. But when her WIXOSS avatar (or LRIG) starts to talk to her, she learns that she has been chosen as one of the ‘Selectors’, an exclusive and secret group of WIXOSS players who compete for higher stakes. Should they win against other Selectors, then any wish they have will be granted, but if they lose three times, then not only will their wish be denied them, but it will actually be reversed with a cruelly ironic twist. While most entries into the card game genre before now have generally been light-hearted melodrama, it seems like this series, directed by Steins;Gate’s Takuya Sato, seeks to breathe new life into the genre by shuffling an element of darkly brooding sci-fi into the deck.
