London International Animation Festival 25 October to 4 November
From 25 October to 4 November, the London International Animation Festival showcases animated features and shorts from all over the world.
Founded in 2003, LIAF aims to dispel the popular misconception that animation is just cartoons for kids by screening the broadest possible range of intelligent, entertaining and provocative current films on offer from all around the world as well as retrospectives and specialised sessions from countries and animators who don't normally elicit such attention.
Japanese animation has a strong presence in the line-up and the event offers a great chance to explore what Japan has to offer beyond conventional anime.
Some of the highlights include:
- Recent Japanese Shorts on 27 October- 11 short animated films from Japan, including Yonalure: Moment To Moment - check out the trailer below.
- Midori-ko on 27 October - a feature by Keita Kurosaka, screened with two of his short films
- A masterclass with Koji Yamamura on 1 November followed by a retrospective of his work and a Q&A session
