MVM To Resurrect Nightwalker In 2013

MVM has announced that the distributor has acquired the rights to Nightwalker, the supernatural horror anime series that originally aired in Japan in 1998.

The star of the show is Shido Tatsuhiko, a vampire posing as a private investigator who fights to protect humankind from assaults from the monstrous creatures known as the Nightbreed.

At Shido's side are female investigator Yayoi Matsunaga, teenager Riho Yamazaki whose parents were killed by Nightbreeds, and the diminutive but sharp-tongued imp Guni.

The series was originally released in two parts in the West, known as The Midnight Detective and Eternal Darkness, but MVM will be releasing it as a 3-disc complete collection later this year.

"The title is not yet scheduled and will probably be Q3 as we already have a packed first half of 2013," says MVM's Tony Allen.

"Whilst MVM continues to bring hot new titles to the UK we are also aware that there are lots of great anime series from the past that have been missed for one reason or another," says Tony. "As vampire tales continue to be very much in vogue this is one series that seemed perfect for our market."
