Anime Limited Acquires UK Rights For 009 RE:CYBORG

Anime Limited, the new distribution label here in the UK, has announced that their first theatrical release will be Kenji Kamiyama's 009 RE:CYBORG.

The movie is a new take on Shotaro Ishinomori's classic manga Cyborg 009 which first appeared in 1964.

The feature was produced by Production IG and Kamiyama wrote the screenplay himself.

The manga told the story of nine people who were abducted by an evil organisation called Black Ghost that transformed them into cyborgs, to be used an living weapons.

The nine rebelled against Black Ghost and fought to win their freedom.

Kamiyama's story picks up the tale three decades later. The cyborgs have disappeared from the pages of history and are long forgotten by the general public.

But when a string of suicide bombings hits skyscrapers across the globe, the nine cyborgs are summoned out of hiding to face the menace behind the attacks.

Anime Limited is aiming for a Spring release in selected cinemas in both 2D and 3D around the UK, followed by DVD and Blu-ray.

You can learn more about the film on the official website.
