Edward and Alphonse Elric

NEO brings you the military files of two of the most elite soldiers in the Amestris military in a behind the scenes look at Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

These two young boys have faced more tragedy before their teens than most encounter in their entire lives. Abandoned by their father as infants, Ed and Al were further traumatised by their mother's death. Turning to forbidden alchemy in an attempt to resurrect her, their experiment went horribly wrong. Ed's left leg and Al's entire body were claimed by the great beyond as the equivalent cost of returning another from death. Realising his mistake, Ed sacrifices his right arm to bind his brother's soul to a suit of armour. Crippled, alone and emotionally scarred, the pair eventually join the military to aid in their search for the Philosopher's Stone, rumoured to be the only way to restore their shattered bodies. Now regarded as the 'Fullmetal Alchemist' by Amestris' forces, Ed possesses the ability to perform alchemy merely by clapping his hands, while Al's inhuman strength proves similarly useful.

Despite their past, both maintain caring, upbeat personalities and unwavering devotion to their friends. The boys' family history is a mystery though - could their unusual affinity for alchemy have something to do with the identity of their missing father, or perhaps some connection to homunculi activities?
