MVM Picks Up Zombie Comedy Sankarea

MVM has announced on its website that the distributor has just signed a deal to acquire the zombie comedy series Sankarea for the UK.

Mamoru Hatakeyama, aka Shinichi Omata, directs the series which is adapted from the manga by Mitsuru Hattori.

Chihiro Furuya is a high school student obsessed with zombies. When his pet cat dies, he decides to try to bring it back to life by creating a potion of resurrection.

Rea Sanka has run away from home and, in an attempt to commit suicide, she drinks Chihiro's potion. It doesn't work but later when she has a fatal accident, Rea turns into a zombie.

Chihiro finally has a real live...well, a real undead zombie on his hands. Now what?

No release date yet as, according to MVM, the contract has only just been signed on the 12 episode series but it sounds like Sankarea could be anime's answer to Warm Bodies.
