Bayonetta: Bloody Fate

Move over Kiki, there is a new queen of the witches heading our way. The world’s favourite catsuit-wearing, gun-slinging, fanservice-satisfying witch Bayonetta is set to return to our screens, but this time she’s moving from video games to her own movie. The character arrived with a bang four years ago as the titular witch awoke from five centuries of slumber on a mission to learn the mysteries of her past, shrouded in the fog of amnesia. The new movie, Bayonetta: Bloody Fate, is directed by Fuminori Kizaki, who is best known for helming Afro Samurai, both the series and the feature-length sequel Afro Samurai: Resurrection, and Madhouse Studio’s anime version of Marvel’s X-men. The screenplay was crafted by another X-men anime alumni, Mitsutaka Hirota, while the English dub cast for Bloody Fate is led by Hellena Taylor who voiced her in the original game. Manga Entertainment has licensed the film for the UK and is planning a release on both DVD and Blu-ray at a date yet to be decided.
