Tokyo Ghoul: Unhealthy Appetites

One of this summer’s biggest hits, urban horror Tokyo Ghoul comes to Blu-ray and DVD next autumn, from Anime Limited. The series follows Ken Kaneki, unwittingly turned into a creature hungering for human flesh after the world’s worst first date. Lured to a construction site by the alluring Rize, her attempts to devour him fail as both are crushed by falling apparatus. When unsuspecting doctors transplant Rize’s organs into Ken, he finds himself trapped between two worlds. Unable to eat regular food, will he sacrifice his humanity in order to survive? And how will he navigate the lethal factions of his new-found “community” and the government operatives who secretly hunt them?

Directed by the Oscar-nominated Shuhei Morita, Tokyo Ghoul is a dark and disturbing modern fable, packed with visceral action and surprisingly heartfelt drama as it asks viewers to consider the lengths they would go to for their own survival.
