Fullmetal Alchemist

When the Edward and Alphonse Elric turn to forbidden alchemy in an attempt to resurrect their dead mother, the brothers’ lives are forever altered. With Ed losing an arm and a leg and Al’s soul bound to a suit of armour, the pair are driven to find the philosopher’s stone – a relic powerful enough to restore their bodies. Unfortunately, an escalating war and the sadistic experiments of their absent father Hohenheim get slightly in the way...

Although the more recent Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood hewed closer to Hiromu Arakawa’s brilliant manga, this original Fullmetal Alchemist anime is where the Elrics won viewers’ hearts – and Arakawa even helped plot the show’s ending! Unavailable for years, Anime Limited is bringing back this “lost” classic and giving it the high-definition treatment later in 2016. Purists will be delighted that the remastered version keeps the original 4:3 aspect ratio, and plans are afoot for regular and high-end collector’s editions of the 51-episode series.
