Kaze Secures Berserk For The UK

Anime distributor Kaze has announced via its Twitter that it has secured the rights to the new Berserk film trilogy for the UK.

Berserk started life as a manga by Kentaro Miura that was adapted into a TV anime in the 1990s. The series was infamously cut short at the end and ended on a cliffhanger that was never resolved.

The new trilogy is not a sequel to the TV series but begins anew, with the Golden Age Arc plot. Toshiyuki Kubooka is directing the trilogy with a screenplay by Ichiro Okouchi.

For those new to Berserk, the story follows the violent life of Guts, a fearsome warrior and member of the Band Of The Hawk, led by the charismatic but deadly Griffith.

The Japanese voice cast includes Hiroaki Iwanaga as Guts, Takahiro Sakurai as Griffith and Toa Yukinari as leading lady Casca.

The first of the movies, Berserk Golden Age Arc I: Egg of the Supreme Ruler, opened in Japan in February and the second will debut on 23 June.

Here's a teaser to whet your appetites.
