Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig

Volume seven of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig is the climax to one of this year's greatest anime series. Not once have the previous six volumes degenerated into tedium and this is a fitting end to 2nd Gig. Many loose ends from the show are tied up nicely here and there's still room for plenty of action. With a nuclear missile threatening to strike we couldn't help but be reminded of the kind of intense situations normally shown in something like 24.

But that just shows what a brilliantly inventive series this has been throughout the run. It's a gritty anime, which can sometimes wander into the woods of confusion with the odd plot twist, but generally it's something that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the credits roll. It's clear to see why Production I.G. is one of the big players in the anime industry, and if you liked this, make sure you check out the Stand Alone Complex movie too!

The only disappointing thing is the series has come to an end
