Hetalia Axis Powers - Complete Season 2

Italy continues his hero worship of Germany, America bonds with Japan, we meet Russia's scary sisters Ukraine and Belarus, and Finland doubles as Santa - all in all, a pretty normal day in the world of Hetalia!

Given the series' origins as a mobile phone anime, each episode's scant five-minute run time means we're treated to a parade of rapid fire jokes and snappy plots that keep your interest while rarely demanding too much effort. It's a credit to the writers and animators that they make often simple or predictable punchlines genuinely funny time and time again. There's not a great deal to get excited about on the animation front - again, Hetalia's origins demand a certain simplicity - but its super-deformed characters and occasional reliance on kinetic, slapstick visuals only serves to heighten the inherent craziness of the show.

Despite its risqué jokes and abundance of national stereotypes, Hetalia thankfully manages to stay on just the right side of comedy casual racism - maybe that's why we don't feel too bad laughing uproariously at the dub, particularly Japan's heavy 'Engrish' accent! It's best not to ask too many questions of the series - instead, just sit back and enjoy while Hetalia conquers your world!

Hilarious, easily digestible humour that only the easily offended could object to!
