Attack on Titan: Part 2

After (mostly) surviving the tumultuous events of the series’ first half, Eren Jaeger and his giant-slaying chums find themselves out of the frying pan and into the fire. Eren has been incarcerated by the military, and with rumours spreading about his newfound transformative abilities, those in charge are forced to make a decision about his ultimate fate. Though episodes one through 13 of the series were hectic, this set takes the action to new heights, with more spectacular aerial battles and gruesome gore-fests than ever before. This probably goes without saying, but Attack on Titan is not for the squeamish!

Where part two really stands apart, however, is in the increase in scale. While the first half of the series was contained almost exclusively within the boundaries of the giant walls of the last human settlement, we now get to see the elite Recon Corps go on an expedition beyond the walls, into the titan-infested lands outside. Not only that, but the new characters and climactic plot revelations of these episodes make the story feel much broader in both scope and depth – it’s tough to imagine any viewers watching and not being hungry to know what happens next with each passing episode.

Attack on Titan is one of the rare shows that not only manages to keep up with the pace and quality of its earliest episodes, but surpasses them. If the first part of the series whets your appetite, then you certainly won’t be disappointed with its latter half. And if you’ve yet to make your first foray into the world of the Titans, then there’s never been a better time than right now.

Attack on Titan became known as an instant classic from its debut, and these perfectly animated and exhilarating episodes unarguably prove that it’s worthy of that title.
