Let’s Dance A Waltz Vol. 1

This cute little shoujo story is from the same author behind the sugar-sweet Kitchen Princess, and Arisa, a mystery tale. Let’s Dance a Waltz tells the familiar story of two seemingly unsuited characters who meet in unlikely circumstances and end up with an unusual bond between them. In this example, the frumpy Hime goes to a dance class and meets the weirdly-named Tango, who is very much the cool guy at school – so cool, in fact, that his secret dancing identity must be kept quiet. (Hint: change your name.)

What could have been an absorbing story of our heroine triumphing against the odds is spoiled somewhat by Hime’s radical (and biologically impossible) transformation at the end of this first volume of three. If you are looking for a story of female empowerment, this is not the place to find it… So far.

Yet another manga with only one solution to the problem of being slightly overweight: go on a crash diet!
