ANIME & MANGA - Review

Attack on Titan The Harsh Mistress of the City Vol. 1

The epic sprawl that is the Attack on Titan franchise continues. You’ve read the manga. You’ve seen the anime. You’ve read the prequel manga… Now read the two part standalone side-story, The Harsh Mistress of the City.

This harrowing tale follows Rita Iglehaut, a solider trapped in Quinta, a town which has become surrounded by the horrors that were once safely kept beyond the wall. Together with her childhood friend, Mathias Kramer, they must do what they can to stay alive despite the odds.

The novelisation comes from Ryo Kawakami, part of the Group SNE collective, while the artwork (which is obviously sparse here) is courtesy of Range Murata – whose distinctive blend of sophisticated and cute styles brings a new edge to the series.

Any new addition to the Attack on Titan franchise is a welcome one in our book!
