Go To The Begining With Kalafina
This Wednesday, 18 April, Kalafina release their new single, To The Beginning, which is the second theme song for the anime series Fate/Zero.
The show is a prequel to Fate/Stay Night which was released here in the UK by MVM in 2010. It concerned a young orphan, Shirou Emiya, drawn into the Holy Grail War and partnered with the mighty female warrior Saber. Fate/Zero takes place ten years before the events on Fate/Stay Night and aired in Japan from October through December last year.
Kalafina is a group brought together by songwriter Yuji Kajiura in 2007. Originally there were four members, but Maya Toyoshima left in 2009, leaving Wakana Ootaki, Keiko Kubota and Hikaru Masai to continue as a trio with Kajiura writing all the music.
The group has recorded a lot of anime theme songs, including tracks for Black Butler and Kara no Kyōkai, in addition to releasing three full length albums, Seventh Heaven (2009), Red Moon (2010) and After Eden (2011) which reached number 3 in the Oricon chart.
