ANIME & MANGA - Video
17:17 - 12th May 2012, by David West

Roujin Z escapes from the anime vaults - and runs amok!

Manga Entertainment has unveiled the trailer for the upcoming release of Roujin Z. The film was originally released in 1991 and was last available in the UK on VHS tape but now Manga are giving fans a chance to experience this classic anew.

The film was created by some of the most famous names in anime. It is directed by Hiroyuki Kitakubo of Blood The Last Vampire fame. The late Satoshi Kon served as art director and designer while the story was written by Kitsuhiro Otomo, the revolutionary mind behind AKIRA.

The story centres around an elderly invalid who is volunteered for a bizarre science experiment. He is given a robotic bed linked directly to his brainwaves, allowing instant gratification of his needs, both medical and emotional.

This seems like a wonderful deal, until this seemingly harmless bed goes out of control and transforms into an unstoppable robot. But is the rampaging robot just a mindless engine of destruction, or is it following the wishes of its elderly occupant?

Roujin Z will be out on DVD & Blu-Ray on 11 June.
