The Flu

Kim Sung-su's The Flu is a shamelessly entertaining disaster movie in which a group of illegal immigrants (is there a Korean version of The Daily Mail?) bring a deadly mutated strain of bird flu to the city of Bundang. Single mom Kim In-hae (Soo Ae) is the first doctor to identify the threat, which engulfs the city with terrifying speed. As she struggles to keep her young daughter (the fabulous and feisty Park Min-ha) safe, they cross paths with Emergency Rescue team member Kang Ji-koo (Jang Hyuk). Soon, the city is on lockdown, and people are dropping like flies even as scientists race against time to find a vaccine.

Following its UK premiere at the London Korean Film Festival, The Flu was released in select cinemas through a groundbreaking deal between Korean distributor CJ Entertainment and the Cineworld chain. Pick up NEO 120 on sale 23/01/14 for more on the film!
