The Kore-eda Hirokazu Collection Out Now

You may still be able to catch Kore-eda Hirokazu's latest film, I Wish, in cinemas if you're quick but if you fancy exploring the director's back catalogue, a collection of some of his finest works has just been released on DVD.

One of contemporary Japan's most innovation and well-respected directors, Kore-eda Hirokazu has been responsible for some of East Asian cinema's finest exports in recent years.

The collection includes the remarkable fantasy romance Air Doll which received a 4 star review in NEO #105. Doona Bae is wonderful as a blow up doll who comes to life one day.

The other titles are 1998's After Life, 2004's Nobody Knows and 2008's award-winning Still Walking starring Hiroshi Abe.

The box set is a must for fans of Kore-eda's unique cinematic sensibilities and world cinema lovers in general and is out now from Matchbox Films.

Now if only someone would release Hirokazu's superb samurai film Hana over here!
