Man Of Tai Chi

Keanu Reeves' directorial debut Man Of Tai Chi finally has a UK release date after opening across Asia last summer. A martial arts fan and practitioner ever since his work on The Matrix, Reeves' film stars his off-screen instructor Tiger Chen as a Tai Chi adept, also called Chen, who is drawn into the world of secret, no-holds-barred fighting organised by Donaka Mark (Reeves). At first, Chen tries to refuse Mark's offer to compete, but the lure of battle and the chance to test his art in the fire of combat are hard to resist.

Reeves brought in two members of the legendary Yuen clan - Yuen Woo-Ping and Yuen Shun-Yee - to contribute to the action choreography, and the cast includes Iko Uwais, from The Raid, as one of the fighters, plus Hong Kong superstar Karen Mok. Shot in a mixture of English, Mandarin and Cantonese, the project was obviously a labour of love for Reeves and Man Of Tai Chi comes to Blu-ray and DVD from Universal on 7 July.
