Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist

Released in 2010, Street Fighter: Legacy was a fan-made three minute short film featuring Ken and Ryu from the Street Fighter II game, co-directed by Joey Ansah and Owen Trevor. Clocking over 5 million views on YouTube, the footage so impressed the folks at Capcom that Ansah and his team were given permission to produce an official, licensed series based on the game. Now Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist is coming to the UK following its online debut on wwww.machinima.com.

The show stars newcomer Mike Moh as Ryu, Christian Howard (who was in the original short film) as Ken, with Togo Igawa as Gotetsu, and Akira Koieyama as Goken. The story concerns the formative years of Ken and Ryu as they strive to perfect their martial arts and to master the secret technique of the Hadouken. Judging by the trailers, it’s ten thousand times better than the 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme film and the 2009 debacle with Kristin Kreuk. Look for the series on DVD later this year from Manga Entertainment.
