Warrior King 2

Can it really be nine years since Tony Jaa starred as ass-kicking elephant herd Kham in the first Warrior King? The Thai star has had a bumpy ride in the meantime – going vastly over-budget with his Ong-Bak sequels before retreating to a monastery. Fortunately he seems to be working to get his career back on track, reuniting with director Prachya Pinkaew and action choreographer Panna Rittkrai for Warrior King 2. Once again, someone has stolen Kham’s elephant (what are the odds?) and to make matters worse, he’s been framed for murder. It’s all the work of evil crime lord LC (Wu Tang Clan’s RZA), so it’s time for Kham to break some heads to get his beloved pachyderm back.

The cast includes Pinkaew’s regular players Jeeja Yanin and Petchai Wongkamlao, plus an impressive outing from American martial artist Marrese Crump, while advance reviews suggest RZA should stick to rapping. Warrior King 2 comes to DVD on 1 September from Entertainment One.
