Touch Of The Light Is Taiwan's Oscar Entry For 2012

Touch Of The Light has been selected as Taiwan's official entry for the Acadmey Awards Best Foreign Language Film category this year.

Chang Yung Chi's debut feature, presented by Wong Kar Wai, is based on the life of blind pianist Huang Yu-Hsiang, who plays himself in the film.

Born in rural Taiwan, Yu-Hsiang is blind but has always been able to depend on his mother and family to help him navigate through life.

When he leaves home to attend university, he has to learn to live by himself and alongside the sighted students.

He meets Chieh (Sandrinne Pinna), who dreams of being a dancer but has never pursued her dream. Inspired by Yu-Hsiang's determination to realize his ambition of becoming a professional concert pianist, she decides to follow her own heart's desire.

Sandrinne Pinna is a two-time winner at the Taipei Film Awards. She first won the Best Actress Award with her performance in Yang Yang and this year for her performance in Touch Of The Light.

Check out the trailer below and the movie has a Chinese language Facebook page.
