108 Floors Of Fiery Terror In The Tower

Kim Ji-hoon's The Tower has disaster written all over it - but in a good way.

It's Christmas Eve in Seoul and a party is underway inside the brand new pair of giant skyscrapers called Tower Sky that reach 108 floors up into the heavens.

To make sure all the party-goers are well and truly in the seasonal spirit, the developer who built Tower Sky has paid for helicopters to circle around the buildings while they sprinkle artificial snow.

But the party is well and truly over when one of the helicopters crashes into the building, igniting a fire that inexorably starts to spread, leading to a mad dash for safety.

Caught up in the chaos are catering manager Yoon-hee (Son Ye-jin) and Tower Sky's head of maintenance Lee Dae-ho (Kim Sang-kyung), while Young-kee (Seol Kyeong-gu) leads the firefighters attempting to control the deadly blaze.

The film was a smash hit in South Korea when it was released on Christmas Day 2012, scoring the second highest number of ticket sales for the opening day of all time.

The Tower will be released on DVD on 6 May from Entertainment One.
