Vincent Zhao Returns In New Trailer for The Great Wudang
Vincent Zhao last graced our screens here in the UK in Yuen Woo-Ping's True Legend but he should be familiar to kung fu fans from his turn as Wong Fei-Hung when he took over from Jet Li in the 4th and 5th movies in the Once Upon A Time In China series.
Zhao will be back in action this year in Patrick Leung's new martial arts film The Great Wudang, aka Wu Dang.
For those who like their kung fu history, a former Shaolin Temple student called Chang San-Feng founded the Wu Dang martial arts tradition when he invented Tai Chi. Chang's life was the basis for the Jet Li movie Tai Chi Master.
The Wu Dang fighters were rivals with Shaolin and in many classic kung fu movies of the 1970s, the Wu Dang are the villains, allied with the Manchu government that had usurped the Ming Dynasty.
Leung's film is set during the Republican Era and the cast features Fan Sui-Wong, Dennis To, star of The Legend Is Born - Ip Man, and Yi Mang (that's her above). Corey Yuen is handling the action direction. The story involves a plot to steal the sacred treasures from Wu Dang Mountain and the film is due to open in Asia this summer.
You can keep up with the latest on the film over on The Great Wudang Facebook page.
