Flying Swords Of Dragon Gate Coming In October

The Dragon Gate Inn remains a popular destination for filmmakers almost fifty years after it first appeared on screen.

King Hu's 1966 film Dragon Gate Inn is a classic of Mandarin martial arts cinema and in 1992 Tsui Hark produced the remake, New Dragon Gate Inn, directed by Raymond Lee and starring Maggie Cheung, Tony Leung Kar-Fai and Donnie Yen.

Now Tsui returns to the fabled inn for a sequel, Flying Swords Of Dragon Gate starring Jet Li, Zhou Xun, Chen Kun and Li Yuchun.

Once again, opposing forces gather at a remote desert inn which stands over a city buried in the sand that is rumoured to contain a fortune in gold.

The ruins will only be exposed and accessible during a massive sandstorm - and one is just about to hit the area.

Amongst those who find themselves seeking shelter or a fortune at Dragon Inn are a swordsman who seeks out and executes corrupt government officials, two women on the run from the Imperial Court, a local governor, a group of bandits and a Mongol princess.

The film is being released theatrically in the US in IMAX cinemas and the trailer for the American version is below.

Here in the UK, the film will be out in selected cinemas on 19 October before coming to DVD and Blu-ray from Revolver Entertainment on 29 October 2012.
