Video Games Go Live in November

We may still be in the first half of the year, but plans are already afoot for a weekend that looks set to be the pinnacle of 2014 as far as video game music fans are concerned; two of the world's biggest events of their kind will be dazzling the UK in the same weekend this November!

Gamers will have to choose between Distant Worlds (Music From Final Fantasy) at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and Video Games Live at the O2 Apollo in Manchester on Saturday 1 November. If the decision's too hard to make, the latter will also have a further show the next day at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London.

This year's return of Distant Worlds will feature legendary Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, the London Voices choirs and a string of guest artists, all conducted by GRAMMY-winning maestro and music director Arnie Roth. Tickets are on sale now and range from £25 right up to a £145 VIP package. More details are available from

Meanwhile Video Games Live offers music from a whole host of popular franchises, including Mario, Sonic, Halo, Metal Gear Solid, and World of Warcraft right down to classics such as Monkey Island, OutRun and Chrono Trigger. Expect familiar medleys from those and more, all performed by top orchestras, choirs and solo performers from across the globe, as well as synchronised visuals, effects and plenty of game-based competitions throughout the evening.
