Saint Seiya: Soldier’s Soul

Masami Kurumada’s fantasy manga Saint Seiya debuted in 1986 and took Japanese fans by storm. The premise involves a group of warriors, called Saints, fighting in the service of the goddess Athena. With their magical armour powered by the mystical energy called Cosmo, they heroically defend the Earth. It was adapted into an anime and was a smash hit in Europe, but for reasons unknown it was very slow to reach the UK.

The manga belatedly arrived in 2003 and two of the previous video games based on the franchise – Saint Seiya: Sanctuary Battle and Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers – were released here on the PlayStation 3. Now Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that Saint Seiya: Soldier’s Soul is heading for our shores, destined for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC later this year. The new fighting game is based on Saint Seiya: Soul Of Gold, the 2014 anime directed by Takeshi Furuta – which is available on Crunchyroll for anyone wanting to brush up ahead of the game’s arrival.
