Luffy’s Burning Blood!

Following in the wake of One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3, Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that the next addition to the Straw Hat Pirates’ videogame family will be One Piece: Burning Blood, due in 2016. The new title will be released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and the Xbox One – making it the very first One Piece game available on a Microsoft console.

Burning Blood is being developed by Spike Chunsoft Co. Ltd, the folks behind the Shonen Jump punch-up J-Stars Victory VS+, which was released in the UK this past summer. Judging by the first trailer, Burning Blood is an action-packed one-vs-one fighting game that focuses on characters from the series with Devil Fruit powers, a change in gameplay from the Dynasty Warriors-style action of the Pirate Warriors titles.

“Meeting our fans on public and private events is a good way to get feedback on our games and see what the expectations are. One Piece: Burning Blood is the perfect example of us creating a game impeccably in-line with fans’ desires,” says Hervé Hoerdt, VP Marketing and Digital at Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe. “The long awaited pure fighting game based on the One Piece universe is here!” Well, it will be here next year. One step at a time there, mister.
