Starcraft II

The sequel to the legendary Starcraft PC game has been ten years in the making, and now the first of three releases for Starcraft II have been launched. Wings of Liberty contains everything you need to play online as the Terrans, Protoss or Zerg, but the nonlinear, storyline or 'campaign' mode is limited to the Terrans - other expansion packs will be needed to play with the other races.

Blizzard boasts new features for the multiplayer options for Starcraft II - playing online, ranked matches link you to players of a similar skill-set, ensuring battles are fair and more satisfying. However, there are no options for LAN mode, and players disgruntled at having to shell out for a game that will require future expansion packs to unlock the campaign mode for the other two races will probably be further enraged by having to pay to unlock premium content like new maps.

Despite these niggles, Starcraft II delivers an amazing RTS experience, along with beautiful graphics and amazing gameplay - hats off to Blizzard. Now, where's Diabolo III?

Much anticipated, we're sure most will not be disappointed with Starcraft II.
SCORE: 4/5
