The Untold History of Japanese Game Developers: Vol. 1

Don’t be fooled by its appearance – The Untold History of Japanese Game Developers has a rather unassuming cover and lacks the glossy design and fancy imagery of some other books that cover Japanese pop culture. However, what it lacks in style it makes up for in substance – and by the bucketful. There are hours and hours worth of reading material contained within, as author John Szczepaniak painstakingly conducts interviews with scores of the most prominent names in Japanese gaming, including Tatsuo Nomura, Yuzo Koshiro, QtQ, and more. Unearthing gems about the history of gaming franchises and companies alike, Szczepaniak has produced a treasure-trove for any gaming enthusiast. Backed by Kickstarter, this is just the first volume in a series of three that are planned – but their production depends on garnering support. Namely, support in the form of hard earned cash being parted with in return for one of these hefty 500+ page tomes. You know what to do…

If you love Japanese gaming, you’ll love this book – simple.
