Toukiden: Kiwami

If you want to know what Toukiden is, in a nutshell, it’s Monster Hunters, but with demons. This new instalment in the franchise is fresh for Steam this summer, and sees you taking on hordes of oni (demons) in historical Japan. By taking on the oni in combat, you can free the souls of those they’ve trapped, and send the nasties back to the dimension they came from. The fallen heroes you freed can be recruited to help your team progress, and they come equipped with tasty weapons and abilities to aid you in your quest.

The game’s story mode will take more than 100 hours to complete, or so we’re told, and while we haven’t quite clocked up that amount of mileage in our games, we’re happy to report that this is a great instalment in a franchise that really deserves more attention!

Another low-key star for Koei Tecmo – fans of J-RPGs would do well to pick up a copy of this on Steam. The only drawback is the hefty price tag.
