Godzilla

Bandai Namco presents Godzilla, the game based on everyone’s favourite city-destroying, radioactive monster – and translates the action from the silver screen into a variety of different gaming modes, giving the player plenty of flexibility. Mission mode sees you smash through 25 levels, Diorama mode allows your imagination to run riot as you to recreate Godzilla scenes, and King of Monsters mode is a time trial.

The concept is great, but the execution, at times, feels clunky, as the graphics don’t really convey the impression of a slick blockbuster – the kind you’d expect from this most cinematic of movie monsters. Gameplay consists of smashing your way through cities and other monsters, whilst dodging the military’s attempts to bring you down. It’s great fun in the short time, but we think this lizard lacks long term appeal.

A fun homage to Godzilla with plenty of great movie references for the fans, but has limited long-term appeal.
