Cosplay Tips

Cosplayer Kelly Jean gives Mary-Ann Russon some top tips for embarking on a new cosplay project:

Always make a mock-up
To avoid having problems later on and having to buy more expensive fabric, Kelly advises that you always do a trial run.
"Make a prototype of your outfit; it's tedious, but you won't regret it in the long run," she says.

Don't give up, start somewhere simple
It's already a great effort if you're attempting to make your costume completely by yourself instead of buying it ready-made, so even if it's hard, you should persevere.
"We all start somewhere. I would always suggest making your first costumes simple so that you can produce something good and build up your confidence before tackling something more difficult," says Kelly.
