Cosplay Networking

Networking online can have a real, beneficial impact on your exposure as a cosplayer, and open up new opportunities for you - from commissions to sponsorship. As a case study, we looked at two successful cosplayers, Kelly Jane and J-Ney, who both have experience in marketing their work online.

Kelly Jane started YouTube channel Parlé Productions with her partner Jenn five years ago, featuring comedy movies and game parodies.

Their videos gain between 100,000 to 300,000 views on average, they have over 59,000 subscribers, and they have been offered contracts from companies who want to place adverts in their videos - though they declined. Kelly Jane also has a large following on DeviantArt.
J-Ney has received paid commissions making cosplay props through his Facebook page, and has been approached to make commissions by the likes of TV channel E4. He is also one of the founding members of online community Sexy Cosplay Guys (SCG), and has helped to source cosplayers to contribute to the SCG Facebook Page, which has achieved over almost 6,000 Likes in less than a year.
