the GazettE A BEAUTIFUL DEFORMITY?

Beautiful? You betcha! A deformity? Musically speaking, the GazettE think they're exactly that: a 'beautiful deformity' in a world full of the same old bands, churning out the same old music - at least that's the spin they're going with for the name of their seventh album, out now from JPU Records.

They have a point: their last album DIVISION peaked at number four in the album chart, but its distorted guitar hooks and screamy vocal were anything but pop. Then again, we can't think of many rock or metal bands that match the band's visual style or spirit either - the video to their latest single FADELESS looks nothing short of a fashion shoot!

"Our art is a distilled combination of audio and visual," explains the band's vocalist RUKI when telling us about the idea behind the new album and its striking cover, featuring a hybrid beast made up of five different animal parts. "the GazettE's creativity depends on the individuality of all five members," he adds cryptically, hinting that perhaps the cover art is also a representation of the band.

BEAUTIFUL DEFORMITY is out now both digitally and on CD. The CD comes bundled with a 24-page booklet full of beautifully deformed art inspired by each of the album's 14 beautifully deformed tracks. There's also an extra exclusive booklet with the lyrics translated into Romaji and English, perfect for anyone studying [how to sound like a deranged psychopath in] Japanese!
