Gateshead Japanese Festival and Harajuku! Night in October

Gateshead Central Library is holding a Japanese Festival from 1 to 8 October 2012 with a series of events exploring Japanese art, culture, language, and film.

There will be Beginners Japanese Taster Sessions if you want to try speaking the language, plus Japanese Beer and Whiskey Tasting if you want to try speaking the language while tipsy.

On Wednesday 3 October there will be a screening of Satoshi Miki's comedy Adrift In Tokyo and on Thursday 4 October you can see the hilarious Kamikaze Girls by Tetsuya Nakashima, starring Kyoko Fukada and Anna Tsuchiya.

On Friday 5 October Harajuku! will be hosting one of their themed nights at Gateshead Old Town Hall.

The event celebrates Lolitas, manga, gaming, origami, karaoke with a mix of live bands plus indie and J-pop DJs thrown in for good measure.

Tickets are £6 prebooked or on the door and £5 if you come in cosplay. 18+ only.
