Brighton Japan - 22 June to 1 July

Running from 22 June until 1 July, Brighton Japan is a celebration of Japanese music, art, and culture with street festivals, anime screenings and more.

The line-up of activities includes:

Retro Game Night at Marwood's Cafe - turn back the technological clock with video games from antiquity. A run-away success last year, Nintendo DS and Sony Vita aficionados will be in eight-bit heaven.

Asahi Anime - the UK's only open air anime festival with cosplay contests, manga drawing and karaoke competitions galore, stalls selling Japanese sweets and street food.

The Tokyo Sounds New Music Showcase - featuring No Cars, Smallgang, Ken Kobayashi & The Colours

There will be a special screening of From Up On Poppy Hill at the Duke Of York and a chance to see Sion Sono's Himizu on the big screen too.

The Moshi Matsuri brings a Japanese open air street festival to Brighton on 23 and 24 June with food stalls, martial arts demos, Taiko drumming, origami and a whole lot more.
