Anyone entering the Manga Jiman competition can submit their entry for Leek & Sushi 2, the non-official anthology book (there isn't an official one) coming out in May next year.

Yeah I'm going ^_^ I went last year, it's a lot of fun. Free drinks, a gallery of the winning comics, a short speech and the giving of the awards. And then more milling around chatting about manga manga manga XD

There's a Sweatdrop meet going on beforehand as well if you fancy coming along. Details are on the SD forums Jiman thread. We're just gonna hang out at a cafe until the ceremony and draw ... and stuff ;3

That's a very kind offer but I fear that my 90 minute turnaround time between work and meeting the person who invited me is only really going to allow for the fastest make-up job in history and the bus/tube ride. Bit of a shame really; I've been reading that Sweatdrop/Jiman thread and laughing, sounds like a fun crew. Also reminds me of how hilarious and absurd trying to find complete strangers in a public place can be (Richmond JFA 2009 volunteer meetup, anyone? Sheesh.).

Patrick Koduah's was the one that stood out for me. Part of it may have been down to the way he talked about his inspiration and ideas in the blurb they had up next to his work. That's not to say that I wasn't very impressed with his artwork.

The technical standard seemed very high to me overall. Stylewise there were a couple which, without a compelling storyline, might not hold my interest for much beyond a chapter. But by the standards of quite a lot of the OEL manga I see in print all the entries seemed staggeringly good.
